STACK UK National Championships - Thanks
A big thank you to everyone who helped at the Nationals at Dunstable Downs and Souter Lighthouse, including all the judges - Andy, John and Alistair, the field directors - Vee and Maryanne, Peter and Keith the sound engineers, Keith on commentary, everyone who helped put up and/or take down the arenas, and of course all the flyers who competed (and their long suffering other halves). Particular thanks to the National Trust for having us (again). And anyone else I may have forgotten.

Timetable - Second Leg of STACK UK National Championship
This weekend is the second leg of the STACK UK National Championships. This is being held at Souter Lighthouse, Coast Road, Whitburn, Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, SR6 7NH. The outline programme is as follows:
Saturday 2nd July
9:30 am - Pilots meeting
Morning - IRB Precision competition - round 3
Late Morning - Multi-kite ballet competition
Lunch
Afternoon - IRB ballet competition - round 3
Late afternoon - coaching and mega-team
Sunday 3rd July
9:30 am - Pilots meeting
Morning - IRB Precision competition - round 4
Late Morning - Freestyle competition - round 2
Lunch
Afternoon - IRB ballet competition - round 4

Within each of the IRB competitions the running order will be dual line followed by multi-line, and within each of these it will be individuals, followed by pairs, then teams.
All of this is dependent on weather and competitor numbers, obviously. Note that if weather is good we may bring some of the items planned for Sunday forward into Saturday.
The figures for the IRB competition will be selected from the list published on 13th May (below). The imposed tricks for the freestyle competition will be selected from the list published on 27th May (below).
Competition is open to novice, experience and master class flyers, so if you have always thought about competing why not have a go in the novice class? Or if you have previously competed, now is the time to have another go.
The competition entry fee for new competitors is just £5. You don't need to be a STACK member to compete in novice or open classes, but you do need to have public liability insurance (if you don't have this, STACK membership provides this at a very reasonable price - see details on 5th February).

This weekend (2nd - 3rd July) - Second Leg of STACK UK National Championship
The second leg of the STACK UK National Championship will be held this weekend at Souter Lighthouse (Coast Road, Whitburn, Sunderland, Tyne & Wear). The overall national championship result is based on the best two performances of the year, so the championship is still wide open. This is an open event, so if you have never entered a kite competition but fancy a go why not come along and give it a go. Or, if you used to compete, but haven't for a while, this would be a good time to return. Weather permitting there will be two rounds of IRB competition (figures and technical routine in the mornings, ballets in the afternoon). Both dual line and multi-line competitions will be run, for individuals, pairs and teams. In addition there will be a multi-kite ballet competition on Saturday and the second round of a freestyle competition on Sunday. Start time is 9:30 each day.
13/6/16

This weekend (11th - 12th June) - First Leg of STACK UK National Championship
The first leg of the STACK UK National Championship will be held this weekend at Dunstable Downs (The Chiltern Gateway Centre, Near Dunstable). It's an open event, so if you have never entered a kite competition but fancy a go why not come along and give it a go. In addition there will be a freestyle competition on Sunday and possibly a multi-kite ballet competition on Saturday. Start time is 9:30 each day.

Music formats for STACK National Championship
For the STACK UK National Chanmpionships at Dunstable Downs on 11th-12th June and Souter Lighthouse on 2nd-3rd July we will be able to play music from an MP3 player, or from PC. In fact the PA system we will be using should be able to play from any device that can be connected via a standard 3.5mm stereo audio jack plug. If you want to play music from a phone, please make sure it has a standard 3.5 mm stereo jack socket. If it has a smaller connector YOU will need to provide a suitable adaptor or cable. We will have a portable CD player to allow CDs to be used. It is strongly recommended that you bring music on two different media (eg CD and iPod), just to be safe, if you can.

STACK UK National Championship - Freestyle event
At the first round of the STACK National Championship at Dunstable on 11th-12th June we will also be holding a freestyle competition. This is a competition intended for individual trick flyers. The competition will based on a simplified version of the Tricks Party format. There will be four imposed figures and a ballet. Competitors may make up to 2 attampts at an imposed trick. The ballet should be choreographed to music. However unlike the full Tricks Party the tricks in the ballet need not be declared in advance. The ballet will be judged based on the difficulty of the tricks, the quality of the execution and how well the performance fits the music. All timings will be as for the IRB individual competition, and one field crew will be allowed. Weather and competitor numbers permitting this will be run on the Sunday.
Four imposed tricks will be selected from the following list:
Fade (group 2); Cascade (group 2) [Axel Cascade]; 540 (group 3); Lazy Susan (group 3) [NOT the Snap Lazy]; Slide (group 3); Yo-Yo (group 3); Backspin (group 4); Jacob's Ladder (group 4).
We will also run a second round during the Northern leg on 2nd-3rd July. The overall result will be based on the best single score from either round.
27/5/16
STACK UK National Championship - Multi-kite event
At the first round of the STACK National Championship at Dunstable on 11th-12th June we will be holding a Multi-Kite ballet competition. This is a competition for individual flyers flying two or three kites. Weather and competitor numbers permitting this will be run on the Saturday. The competition will be run and judged exactly as the ballet competition for the IRB event, however all timings will be as for the pairs competition, and two field crew will be allowed. We will also run a second round during the Northern leg on 2nd-3rd July. The overall result will be based on the best single score from either round.
26/5/16
STACK UK National Championship Southern Rounds

Lunch
Afternoon - IRB ballet competition - round 1
Late afternoon - coaching and mega-team
Sunday 12th June
9:30 am - Pilots meeting
Morning - IRB Precision competition - round 2
Late Morning - Freestyle competition
Lunch
Afternoon - IRB ballet competition - round 2

Within each of the IRB competitions the running order will be dual line followed by multi-line, and within each of these it will be individuals, followed by pairs, then teams.
All of this is dependent on weather and competitor numbers, obviously. Competition is open to novice, experience and master class flyers, so if you have always thought about competing why not have a go in the novice class? Or if you have previously competed, now is the time to have another go.

STACK Membership Renewal and Fees
It's that time of the year again - time to renew your STACK UK membership. All current members should receive renewal information by e-mail shortly. If you were not a member last year, but would like to join, this is also the ideal time.
This year we have reviewed the membership costs taking into account changed insurance arrangements.
The individual membership fee has been reduced to £14, with juniors, retired members and additional family members reduced to £5.
The membership fee includes insurance at STACK events. If you require insurance cover for flying at anytime, this can be taken as an optional extra, priced at £11.
The National/International Competition Licence fees have also been reduced for this year to £20 for a full licence, and £5 for juniors and 1st year novice competitors.
Entry to the freestyle/tricks competition only is £5, and entry to the multi-kite ballet competition only is £5. (Holders of a full competition licence can compete in these at no extra cost.)

STACK UK National Championship Southern Round
STACK is pleased to announce that the Southern leg of the 2016 STACK UK National Championships will be held over the weekend of 11th-12th June 2016 at Dunstable Downs (the National Trust Chilterns Gateway Centre). Two rounds of competition will be run (weather permitting).
12/1/16
Technical Freestyle Routines
As the last few National Championships have been run using mix format, some competitors may not be familiar with the technical freestyle routine.
A technical routine is a flowing routine that demonstrates evidence of a plan, and the technical skill of the flyer(s). It is marked on execution and content. Execution considers accuracy, control, use of the wind window, timing and spacing (for pairs and teams), trick quality, and the inclusion of technically demanding and daring manoeuvres. Content considers complexity, continuity - tempo, rhythm, originality, creativity, and variety - technical difficulty, landings, stalls and slides, and variety of tricks.
The minimum duration is 1 minute for individuals, and 2 minutes for teams and pairs. The maximum duration is 3 minutes for individuals and 4 minutes for teams and pairs - note that this is a bit shorter than the maximum time for ballets.
While producing a technical routine is a challenge, it need not too difficult. Here are a few suggestions that may help.
Firstly, note that the minimum time is quite short - just 1 minute for individuals. For your first technical routine, aim to be just above minimum time (you need to be a few seconds over as in higher winds it may go faster than you expected.
For a first routine, you could consider stringing together a few precision figures (which you have already practiced, haven't you) and then try to make the joins between them interesting.
Most competitors will have a ballet prepared, and there is no reason at all why you cannot fly your ballet as a technical freestyle in your first years of competition. A ballet is focused primarily on fitting the music, so will obviously not score as well as a freestyle written to address the marking criteria above, but it will probably still score reasonably as a freestyle. Do remember the maximum time - you may need to shorten the routine if your ballet is toward the upper time limit. Finally, if you find it hard to fly your ballet without music, there is nothing preventing you having your music playing in one ear while you fly the technical routine.
Some competitors have been known to simply improvise a freestyle. This probably won't score as well as something that is planned - although I have seen one or two competitors improvise routines that scored very well indeed.
Finally, if none of these options appeal, you can of course opt not to fly the freestyle. You will get a zero for that part of the precision, but you will still get scores for your figures and ballet.
So - there is no reason why the technical freestyle should stop you competing, just have a go.

STACK UK Nationals 2016
The AGM confirmed that the STACK UK 2016 Nationals will be run over two weekends, one in the North and one in the South (subject to resolving all the logistics, such as site, PA etc). The aim will be to run two rounds of competition at each weekend.
In a change to recent practice, the AGM decided that all rounds will be run to the full IRB format - that is a precision discipline comprising 3 figures and a technical freestyle routine and a ballet discipline (with a ballet obviously) for each round.
(Note - for the first round only we will keep the option of switching to mix format if a significant number of new participants attend.)
Dates and venues are not yet confirmed, but will be announced as soon as we are able.

STACK UK EuroCup Selection criteria.
Selection to represent STACK UK at EuroCup will be based on the current STACK rankings. However places will only be offered to current STACK members who have achieved a score of 60% or better in a national competition this year. This is to ensure that places go to those who are in current practice, and are able to compete at Masters level.
We can send up to two competitors in each discipline: if these places are not filled using the above criteria, STACK UK will consider applications from other current members who would like to gain experience competing in Europe.

STACK UK National Championships Results
Results from last weekends STACK UK National Championship, including the results of each of the individual rounds of the IRB championship, are now available on the results page.
For the first time in our recollection we had a tie for first place in round 2 of the dual line individual competition, with Miguel and Tony both scoring 77.5% (to within less than 0.05%), albeit each getting there in different ways!
Thanks
A big thank you to everyone who helped at the Nationals, including all the judges - Andy, Vee, Simon and Miguel, the field director Maryanne, Adam the sound engineer, Keith on commentary, all the competitors who line judged (and Sharon and Keith), everyone who helped put up and/or take down the arena (including Susan), and of course all the flyers who competed (and their long suffering other halves). Particular thanks to the National Trust for having us (again). And anyone else I have forgotten.

STACK UK Nationals - 3rd Round
Provided the weather is kind next weekend, we will may well have time to fit in a third round of IRB competition at the Nationals, perhaps with Team and Pair on Saturday and Indi on Sunday. This would allow the final score to be based on the best 2 of 3 results. Obviously, the same set of figures would apply. It will very much depend on the wind and weather conditions, and the actual number of competitors. We will take the final decision on the Saturday.
07/06/15
STACK UK Nationals - Multi-kite competition
On Saturday (weather permitting) we will be holding the first STACK UK Multi-kite competition. This is a new competition for individual kite flyers who fly two or three kites simultaneously. That's controlling each kite independently, not flying a stack of 2 or 3 kites.)
This is a new format and for now it will be a ballet only competition (but if anyone wants to demonstrate some figures, we would be happy to watch). The rules and timings will be as for the IRB team competition. Ballet music must be between 2 and 5 minutes (ideally on CD, but we should be able to play from MP3 players as well).
07/06/15
STACK UK Nationals - Freestyle/Trick competition
We will be running a freestyle competition at the National on Sunday, weather permitting. This will be based on the Tricks party format, using the guidelines and trick descriptions published on this website.
The 4 imposed tricks will be selected from the following list, taking into account wind conditions:
Jacob's Ladder (Group 4) / Backspin (Group 4) / 540 (Group 3) / Lazy Susan (Group 3) / Flic-Flac (Group 3) / Slide (Group 3) / Cascade (Group 2) / Stall (Group 2)
Note: In an addition to the usual rules, less experienced competitors may elect to fly either of the two Group 2 tricks in place of any selected Group 4 trick, but these Group 2 compulsories will be weighted at 60% (ie will score a maximum of 6 points rather than 10).
Competitors will also fly a ballet. You will need a piece of music (ideally on CD, but we should be able to play from MP3 players as well) which is between 2 and 3 minutes. You must also provided a list of between 6 and 12 tricks which will be included in your routine.
06/06/15

STACK Members Insurance
The arrangements for the STACK members' insurance (organized via the BKFA) have changed for the coming year. From now on the basic insurance policy will ONLY cover insurance at STACK events, such as the National Championship, fun flying days and boot camps. An optional additional policy will be available to any member which will provide 3rd party cover for kite flying on all other occasions (worldwide, excluding USA & Canada). Unsurprisingly, the insurance premiums have also increased. Since the membership renewals have already happened this year, and we anticipate that most members will want the full anytime, anywhere cover, we will be taking out this option for all members when the new insurance comes into effect in May.
If anyone does NOT need or want this insurance cover, please let us know as soon as possible. In particular, the insurers do not like people to have multiple cover, so if you have flying insurance from a different source please let us know so that we can exclude the additional cover for you.
For new members joining later in the year and for next year's renewal, we will be making the full insurance a selectable option, with a separate cost.
We will publish details of the policy, once it comes into effect, here on the STACK website.

STACK Membership Renewal
It's that time of the year again - time to renew your STACK UK membership. All current members should have received renewal information by e-mail already (please get in touch if you haven't received yours). If you were not a member last year, but would like to join, this is also the ideal time.

If there is interest, we may also run a multi-kite single flyer ballet competition.

The STACK UK AGM will be held on Sunday 30th November at 13:30 (for 14:00 start) in Farringdon, Oxfordshire, SN7 (this is as near central as we can manage). We expect that the AGM will take about 2 to 3 hours. Coffee and tea will be provided. Please let us know if you will be attending (via e-mail to STACK (stack@teamflame.co.uk) or Facebook). As the AGM is being hosted by existing members at a private property we will send you a full address if you reply indicating that you will be attending.

Here is the outline agenda for the AGM - though it won't be too formal.

The reports will be kept short, just a few minutes each.

Officers
Nominations are invited for the STACK UK officers - the National Director, Treasurer and Membership Secretary. Please send any nominations to the e-mail address above. Please ensure that if you are nominating someone other than yourself that person is prepared to take on the role. The current officers (national director, treasurer and membership secretary) are prepared to continue to stand. If no other nominations are received these officers will be automatically re-elected.

Motion
A motion, proposed by the National Director, is listed below. You may vote for or against this at the AGM, or by e-mail up to the day before the AGM.
If there is a further motion that you would like to put before the AGM, please send it, together with a few paragraphs explaining the issue, to the above e-mail address, as soon as possible. If time permits any such motion will be circulated to the membership, and votes may be submitted as described above. Motions may be tabled in person on the day of the AGM, but ideally we would like to receive them in advance so that the whole membership can read and vote on them.
Motion 1: Membership Fee
The STACK membership fee shall remain unchanged from last year. However, if the insurance premium (arranged with the BKFA) is increased, such increase may be passed on to the members as a corresponding increase if fee.

Note A: National Championship Format
The format of the National Championship has recently been discussed on Facebook and by e-mail. Various points have been raised:
- Last year the mix format - figures and ballet, but no freestyle - was used. No one raised any objection to continuing this.
- The "weekend of competition" format used last year was well received.
- However, it was pointed out that with the current low number of competitors the cost of this type of event is likely to be prohibitive, unless a significantly cheaper PA hire option can be found.
- There is a desire to have more rounds, and in particular competition on more weekends, so that if someone cannot attend a particular weekend they are not excluded from competing.
These issues will be discussed at the AGM and it is intended to agree the format for next year's nationals at that time. Further opinions are welcomed, by e-mail of Facebook up to the day before the AGM.

We hope to see you at the AGM, or later in the year in a field, with a kite.

STACK UK National Championships 2015 - Choices
The UK National Championship will be one of the main topics at this year's AGM. We would like to hear from members, and in particular competitors, former competitors, and those that might consider competing before making any decisions.
Ideally we would like to run at least 3 rounds of each discipline, but if necessary we can have a championship based on just two rounds, as we did this year, or even just one round.
If we host our own event we can, weather permitting, probably fit two rounds into one weekend. However, there are costs associated with running our own competition: by far the largest component is hiring a PA system - we cannot sensibly run a competition without this, and hire costs are in the area of £250 to £350 per weekend. There are other costs, but these are minor, perhaps £50 total (unless we have to hire a porta-loo, which would add another £100 or so). These costs have to be covered by the competition fee - so basically split between the competitors. The fewer competitors, the greater the cost.
Another options is to seek festivals that would host a championship round. This is a cheaper option as the festival will already have a PA. However, most festivals are only really interested in the more audience friendly ballet component, and the limited time available in the festival may mean that we cannot do all the disciplines at a festival, so we might end up with pairs at one festival, team at another, and individual at a third event.
We could "top-up" with a precision only event - obviously, the cost for this is much less (no PA needed), however this is type of event may be less attractive to some competitors.
For next year the "straw-man" proposal is to organize a single STACK event (as we did this year) where we aim to complete two rounds, and to try to top this up with additional ballet only rounds for some disciplines at festivals, provided we can get some festivals to invite us.
So what do you think - what do you want from your nationals? All opinions welcome (by e-mail).

STACK UK AGM 2014
The STACK UK AGM will be held at 2pm on Sunday 30th of November, at Farringdon.
As well as the usual reports, and setting of membership fee, we will also be discussing the form of next year's Nationals (one round or more than one) and the resulting competition fees.
The AGM will be at a member's home - we will send the address to anyone that indicates that they want to attend.
If you plan to attend, please let us know, so we can track numbers.
We look forward to seeing some of you there.

STACK Fun Flying
STACK will be running fun flying sessions at two up coming events:- Hereford and Leominster Kite Festival, Berrington Hall, near Leominster, 19th & 20th July and North Hants Kiters Jolly Up #15 Southlea, Farleigh Road, Cliddesden, near Basingstoke, 2nd & 3rd August.
The focus of the STACK activity at these events will be on "Skills Improvement" sessions aimed at flyers wishing to improve their precision or trick flying, or to try pairs, team or even mega-team flying.
Also, if you are a experienced kite flyer but have never tried a dual line kite, or are new to kite flying, how about trying a STACK "Have a Go" session, to see what flying a two or four line sport kite is like.
On each Sunday we will also hold an informal Summer League competition, for those that would like to try competing in a low pressure, friendly event. We will announce 3 figures for these competitions on the day, and as well as individuals we can accomodate pairs or teams wanting to have a try.
Although it is OK to just turn up at these events, if there is a specific skill you are interested in, particularly if you are interested in pairs or team flying, please let is know so that we can make sure we have the right resources available.
If you want to camp at Berrington, or take your vehicle into the kite area, you will need a parking pass. If you need one of these, please contact STACK and we will provide one. If you want to camp at The Jolly-Up, please contact the Jolly-Up organizers (Kites Up).
We hope to see some of you at one or both of these events.
13/06/14
European Freestyle Cup
From FFVL:- The European Freestyle Cup will be held next over the weekend of 13th and 14th September in the south of France, on the beach of Portiragnes near Béziers. The competition will be based on the Tricks Party rules, and will be for individual competitors (no pairs or teams this time). A STACK licence will be required to compete. The competition will be held as an integral part of a kite festival.

Congratulations to the new 2014 Champions
The STACK UK National Championship was held at Dunstable Downs on 31st May and 1st June. Two rounds of the IRB competition (figures and ballet) were held in light winds, and the results are:
2014 Dual Line Individual National Champion - Tony Shiggins
2014 Dual Line Pair National Champion - Phoenix
2014 Dual Line Team Champions - Flame
It was great to see new competitors in pairs, so congratulations to Flying Fish who are the new Experience Class Dual Line Pairs Champions for 2014.
A freestyle competition, loosely based on the Tricks Party format with set tricks and ballet was also run in light to zero wind. Congratulations to the new 2014 Freestyle Champion, Yan Spooner for a great performance (and impressive running).
Thanks to all the competitors, judges and field director, and to the National Trust at Dunstable for having us.

An Appeal from STACK to Former Competitors
If you have competed in the STACK UK National Championships in the past, please consider whether you could compete again this year, at least in the individual disciplines. Competitive kite flying in the UK needs you. A National Championship without the best flyers is greatly diminished, and without the example of great competitive flyers to aspire to, newer flyers are unlikely to step up to competition.
This year we have tried to make competing in the Nationals as easy as possible. The Nationals will be held over a single weekend - 31st May & 1st June at Dunstable Downs. We will use the mix discipline, so you only need to prepare precision figures and a ballet - hopefully you have an existing ballet routine that could be used. Fees have been minimized, based on just covering the overheads (basically, the PA cost). You can just turn up on the weekend, though for planning purposes it would be much appreciated if you could let us know if you plan to participate.
We would love to see as many as possible of the UK's great flyers competing in the dual line and quad-line individual disciplines as possible. Participants are also welcome in the pairs and team disciplines (though it is appreciated that this requires a greater commitment to preparation and practice).
Please get in touch if you would like more details.

STACK Fun Flying at the Kiters' Jolly Up
STACK will be running Fun Flying sessions at the second Kiters' Jolly Up at Clidesden on 2nd and 3rd August. The focus will be mainly on "Skills Improvement" sessions for flyers wishing to improve their precision or trick flying, or to try pairs, team or even mega-team flying. On Sunday we will hold an informal Summer League competition. Hopefully we will see some of you there.
(If you will be attending, please let us know, to help with planning. Also, if there is a specific skill you are interested in, and particularly if you are interested in pairs or team flying, please let is know so that we can ensure we have the right resources available. If you want to camp at the event, pleas contact the Jolly Up organizers.)

STACK National Championship 2014
STACK is pleased to announce the 2014 UK National Championship.
It has been decided that this year the National Championship will be based on a single round of competition. This will be held on 31st May and 1st June at Dunstable Downs.
The competition will use the mix discipline format (as defined in the International Rule Book) with each competitor required to fly three precision figures and a ballet to music (no precision routine).
The competition is open to individuals, pairs and teams in both dual-line and multi-line kite categories.
If you have competed in previous years, this is the perfect chance to take part again without having to commit to multiple events.
[Subject to wind and weather, obviously.]
To compete in the National Championship you must be a STACK member, and you must have a competition licence. (These can be purchased on the weekend.)
If you intend to compete, please inform us in advance if possible, to assist with the event planning.
Other competitions will be held at events later in the year, provided there is sufficient interest. These will be league style. They will count towards the UK national rankings, but not the national championship.
02/03/14
STACK Competition licence
As usual, to compete in the National Championshipo you need a competition Licence. However, this year there are no additional per round charges. For details of the licence fee see the Join page (at the bottom)

First event of 2014
We have the first confirmed event date for 2014. STACK will be at Dunstable on 31st May and 1st June. Not quite sure what it will be yet, competition, coaching, fun fly, or probably some of all of these, but it's a lovely site and we are delighted to have been invited to run a kite flying weekend there again. (And then hopefully go back again for the main kite festival, later in the season.)

STACK Fun Flying Event
This event is now going to be held on Sunday 8th September ONLY rather than Saturday and Sunday as originally proposed.
A number of people have indicated that they are attending on Sunday, and various experienced flyers will be there so that participants can have a go at flying together in pairs and/or teams. Some trick flying tuition should also be available. We may also try a mega-team.
As it's a fun day, the start time will be a leisurely 10am.
The venue is the North Hants Buggy Club field at Cliddesden, near Basingstoke (where the Jolly-Up is held).
A couple of points to note about the site:- (1) The gate must be kept shut at all times - except when actually entering or leaving the site. If you arrive and it's shut, give a wave or shout and you'll be let in. (2) There are no toilet facilities on site. (However, if anyone has a portable chemical loo plus the related small tent and would be able to bring it, please do, as it would be much appreciated.)
23/08/13
Bristol Kite Festival
STACK will be at Bristol International Kite Festival at Ashton Court this weekend. We will be in Arena 3, along with the power kite team. Members of STACK will be offering "have a go" sessions and other coaching (as time and space allows). It may even be possible to try a bit of pair or team flying. There will be a Trick-Out on the Sunday. The power kite guys will be providing passenger rides.
Also, Team Flame will be providing demos in arena 2 (circa 11:30 and 3:30 both days).
23/08/13
STACK Fun Flying Weekend
The STACK Fun Flying weekend is now confirmed for Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September (the weekend after Bristol Festival). The event will be held at the North Hants Buggy Club field at Cliddesden, near Basingstoke (where the Jolly-Up is held).
As the name suggests, the idea is simply to have fun flying kites, however there will be opportunities to work with experienced flyers to improve your kiting skills, and opportunities to have a go at flying in a pair, team or mega-team.
If you are going to come along to this, please send us an e-mail [see the Contacts page] so we can keep track of numbers.
Also, if there is something in particular you would like to have a go at (eg trying team) please let us know and we will try to make sure we can accommodate this.
Points to note about the site for the fun flying weekend
The main reason for selecting this site is that it is very central and close to the motorway network (M3). We have had interest from as far apart as Essex and Plymouth, so it needed to be a central location. The site is a privately owned, is the location of the Jolly-Up events and we have held competitions there in previous years, so we know it is suitable for flying.
However as anywhere, it is not perfect - one point to note is that there will be no facilities. Unfortunately there will NOT be porta-loos - although we could hire a porta-loo that would add quite a lot to the overall costs of the weekend. Because of this, there is also no camping on-site, however there is a campsite - Innwood - within two miles, and probably various others, as well as pubs, B & Bs and hotels in and around Basingstoke.
21/07/13
We have a new champion! Congratulations to John Williams, the new UK individual dual line sport kite champion for 2013, and also to Phoenix and Flame, who retain their respective pair and team championship titles.
