STACK membership includes 3rd party liability insurance cover when flying at STACK events. Members may optionally purchase additional insurance which provides 3rd party liability insurance cover when flying at anytime, almost anywhere in the world.

STACK's insurance is arranged by the British Kite Flyers Association (BKFA).

BKFA has new insurance arrangements from 1st May 2015. The policies have been negotiated through Perkins Slade, a broker recommended by Sport & Recreation Alliance and are underwritten by Hiscox. The policies are only available to BKFA member clubs and to their members.

The principal policy provides third party liability cover (as well as a number of other protections) to a club, its officers and members. This covers flying at STACK organized events such as the STACK national championships, STACK league competitions, STACK coaching days and STACK fun flying days

An optional second policy is called Club Affiliated Independent Flyer (CAIF) cover and provides for cover worldwide (except USA & Canada) at any time whether flying individually, at an organised event or in a group. (Though optional, CAIF cover is strongly recommended for all flyers, unless you have equivalent cover via another club.)

The policies do NOT cover traction or power kiting.

Club premiums for the principal policy are based on member numbers. The optional CAIF cover has an additional cost per individual. There are no discounts for family groups or children and cover is on a per person basis.

A letter outlining the BKFS's insurance arrangements for this year is here.

The BKFA have developed a document that describes the insured activities and this has been agreed by Perkins Slade. It is here.

An outline of the policy is here with fuller policy wording here. These apply to both the club policy and CAIF cover.

Perkins Slades offer to the BKFA for club cover are here and for CAIF cover here.

The insurance cover note is here.

For new members insurance commences on 1st May, 1st August, 1st November or 1st January after joining.

Note that it is a condition of the insurance that members fly in accordance with the rules and guidelines of STACK and the BKFA.
